The Beacon Hotel South Beach is in the heart of the Art Deco District directly across from the beach on the famed Ocean Drive. The hotel boasts beautiful terrazzo flooring, quirky furnishings and is chock full of understated sophistication while still managing to retain the integrity of the hotel’s original 1937 grand design.
This five-story beachfront landmark features 75 spacious rooms and 3 suites, some with ocean views. It was renovated in 2009 and decked out with modern amenities. Upon entering the hotel, the Beacon’s intimate lobby greets visitors with a small reception area and bar that join a small sitting area with Deco-inspired furnishings and a large-screen TV.
A mezzanine level looks out over the lobby and houses a small library of paperbacks.
All accommodations include marble floors, ample closets, individually controlled A/Cs, in-room telephones with voicemail and data ports, cable TVs, snack bars, coffee/ makers, iron and ironing boards, mini bars, safe-deposits in each room, down comforters, morning newspapers and high-speed Internet access. VCRs are available on request. Walls are painted a soothing white that is accented with marble floors, dark furnishings and Art Deco accessories.
The property offers a complimentary continental breakfast served each morning. Rendezvous, the hotel’s sidewalk café offers great food along with views of the beach, Ocean Drive and is a prime spot for people watching.
The menu is an innovative cuisine of the Americas, coupled with the flavors of the Caribbean. There’s no swimming pool on-site, but a fitness center was added in 2004 and guests have privileges at the nearby Lancôme spa.
