Many visitors to South Florida think only about the sun, the sand, and the sea but few realize how many wonderful cultural organizations welcome tourists and locals year round. To help everyone in the community explore our rich historic heritage, May is designated Miami Museum Month when visitors can buy one admission to a local museum and see another one for free. Locals who choose to join one museum during the month of May can use that paid membership to get in free to all venues participating in the event. All you need to qualify is a valid photo ID that proves you live in or outside Dade County!
No matter what your particular interest – from airplanes to art – there is a museum in town to capture your imagination. Miami Museum Month includes a chance to get in free to the Ancient Spanish Monestary, Art Center/South Florida, Bakehouse Art Complex, Bass Museum of Art, Black Police Precinct & Court House Museum, Coral Gables Merrick House, Coral Gables Museum, The Haitian Heritage Museum, HistoryMiami, Jewish Museum of Florida and the Lowe Art Museum. Admission deals are also offered at the Miami Art Museum, Miami Children’s Museum, Miami Science Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum, Wings Over Miami Air Museum, and the Wolfsonian—FIU on South Beach.
If you are interested in taking advantage of Miami Museum Month, check the websites for each individual venue as the fees for membership do vary. Sponsored by WLRN public television and the Greater Miami Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, this annual event helps to showcase some of our community’s most valuable assets!
